I love Mr. Squeakers, our puppy supervisor. He is super cute, like a little realistic stuffed animal. It’s very soothing to pet him or hold him in his little satchel-hammock. My favorite memory was when I took a photo of him next to a little reindeer statue or when he dressed up as Toto and sat in a tiny basket during our Halloween party. He’s also best friends with my coworkers/friends Alexander and Amber. He’s a perfect puppy, even though he’s really old!
After my second interview with Ms. Paige, I held him for the first time, and he fell asleep in my arms. Sometimes, when I’m busy taking pictures or helping make succulent art, I hold him in his little hammock. When he makes cute little sounds, I tell one of my workers or Ms. Paige that he needs someone. But when everybody is busy, I help by petting him and rocking him in his little carriage. Just like my dog Coco, Mr. Squeakers is very sweet and lovable.
Learning New Things at PIA by Laurie Boarders
At Plant It Again, I love to help make art. I used spray paint for the first time when I spray painted a pretty red pumpkin for a succulent project. On one of my working days, my mom and I created a cute Christmas tree out of succulents. I learned how to use a bow-making machine, and we made pretty bows for decorations. I also learned how to make succulent pens.
The pens were kind of frustrating to do at first, but I got better at making them the more I did them. I learned how to design headbands for the first time, and I made three. One was red, and I gave it to Mrs. Paige. I gave my sister the other two, which were green and yellow, for Christmas. Lastly, I've drawn tiny samples for soap covers designs. I drew symbols of things connected to the scent of honey. In the end, we chose a beehive. Making art is one of my favorite things to do!
Making Silly Videos with my PIA Family by Laurie Boarders
Making commercials at Plant It Again is very entertaining. The first one I took part in was with my friend Martin. We did a scene where we played a couple doing shoe and purse shopping, but the shoes and purses were made out of plants and moss! I also played as a customer in another commercial where my friend Alexander was voice dubbed by Martin. My friend Amber was the information voiceover.
We did a short parody of "The Final Countdown" during our holiday sale commercial. We sang the song's first line and then talked about the deal. I pretended to play the store's keyboard. I also wrote a script with Amber for a commercial where we supported Plant It Again through Amazon Smile. Acting in our commercials makes me feel like a movie or TV star!
Surprise Notebooks by Laurie Boarders - March 12th
One of my favorite hobbies is making surprise notebooks. First I play pretend mall , and look for empty notebooks that already have decorations on the front. Then I look for pictures and put them on word document. I usually add hidden pictures of Hello Kitty because she’s very cute. After that I print them out. After I printed out the art pictures I’ve made, I cut them out. I then glue or tape the new cover decorations on the inside of the notebooks.I color the decorations with scented crayons, markers, and colored pencils. When I’m done, I start making new stories, script ideas, and designs.
